8 March 1963 seizure of power in Syria by the military committee of the Syrian Regional Branch of the Ba'ath Party, led by Muhammad Umran, Salah Jadid, and Hafez al-Assad with the consent of party leader Michel Aflaq. The conspiracy was prompted by the Ba'ath Party's seizure of power in Iraq the previous month.
