British expedition to Abyssinia
1867 – 1868 · Ethiopian Empire
A British and Indian army under Robert Napier marched into Ethiopia to free captives held by Emperor Tewodros II. The British stormed Magdala, Tewodros killed himself, and the army withdrew.
