Constitution of 3 May 1791
May 3, 1791 – November 23, 1793
The Sejm of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth adopted Europe's first modern written constitution. It reformed the state, but Russia and the Targowica Confederation overturned it within two years, leading to the Second Partition.
