Little Rock Nine

The Little Rock Nine were nine African American students who enrolled at Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas in 1957, following the Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education desegregation ruling. Governor Orval Faubus used the National Guard to block them from entering. President Dwight D. Eisenhower intervened with federal troops, and the students attended, making the episode a landmark of the U.S. civil rights movement.
