Sabinada

November 6, 1837 – March 16, 1838 · Bahia Province

Rebels in Salvador, led by the doctor Francisco Sabino, declared Bahia a republic separate from the Brazilian regency. Imperial troops took back the city after a siege, with heavy loss of life.
