US law enacted April 10, 1979, governing unofficial ties with Taiwan after US recognition of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China. It permits continued economic, cultural, and security relations, including arms sales for Taiwan's self-defense, and states that any non-peaceful effort to decide Taiwan's future would be a serious US concern.
