1987 Fijian coups d'état
May 14 – September 28, 1987
Lieutenant Colonel Sitiveni Rabuka led two coups that overthrew the government of Prime Minister Timoci Bavadra. After the second coup Fiji became a republic and left the Commonwealth for some years.
