Bataan Death March

Forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Army of 72,000 to 78,000 Filipino and American POWs from Bataan to Camp O'Donnell via San Fernando, beginning 9 April 1942 after the three-month Battle of Bataan. The 105-kilometre march saw severe abuse and wanton killings; an estimated 5,000 to 18,000 Filipinos and 500 to 650 Americans died before reaching the camp.
