Camp David Accords
Pair of political agreements signed 17 September 1978 by Egyptian president Anwar Sadat and Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin after twelve days of secret negotiations at Camp David, witnessed by President Jimmy Carter. The second framework led directly to the 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty; Sadat and Begin shared the 1978 Nobel Peace Prize. The first framework, dealing with the Palestinian territories without Palestinian participation, was condemned by the United Nations and drew discontent across much of the Arab world.
