Kronstadt rebellion

Revolt of the Kronstadt naval garrison (1-18 March 1921) against Bolshevik rule, demanding free soviets and an end to War Communism. Tukhachevsky's 7th Army assaulted across the frozen Gulf of Finland 7-18 March; the Bolshevik victory was followed by mass executions. The rebellion helped prompt the New Economic Policy.
