Leon Trotsky

Leon Trotsky (1879–1940) was a Russian revolutionary, Soviet politician, and political theorist. He was a key figure in the 1905 Revolution, the October Revolution of 1917, the Russian Civil War, and the establishment of the Soviet Union, alongside Vladimir Lenin. He was exiled from the Soviet Union in 1929 and assassinated in 1940.
Biography
Leon Trotsky was a Russian revolutionary and Marxist theorist. He led the Petrograd Soviet in the 1905 revolution and, after joining the Bolsheviks in 1917, organised the October Revolution that brought them to power.
As People's Commissar for War he built the Red Army and led it to victory in the Russian Civil War. After Lenin's death he lost the power struggle to Joseph Stalin.
He was expelled from the party, exiled in 1929, and continued to oppose Stalin from abroad, founding the Fourth International. He was murdered in Mexico in 1940 by a Soviet agent.
