Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution was a period of political and social change in Russia beginning in 1917. The February Revolution forced Tsar Nicholas II to abdicate, and a Provisional Government took power. In the October Revolution, Vladimir Lenin's Bolsheviks overthrew that government and established the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. A civil war between the Bolshevik Reds and the anti-Bolshevik Whites followed from 1918 to 1922, ending with the creation of the Soviet Union.
