Occupation of the Ruhr
January 11, 1923 – August 25, 1925 · Ruhr Region
France and Belgium occupied Germany's Ruhr region after Germany fell behind on war reparations. Germans answered with passive resistance, which worsened hyperinflation, and the occupation ended after the Dawes Plan.
