Oslo I Accord
The Oslo I Accord, officially the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements, was the first face-to-face agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, reached in 1993 as an outgrowth of the Madrid Conference. Negotiated secretly in Oslo, Norway, it was completed on 20 August and formally signed in Washington, D.C., on 13 September 1993 in the presence of Yasser Arafat, Yitzhak Rabin, and Bill Clinton. It provided for Palestinian self-government in the West Bank and Gaza as a step toward resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
