Abdel Fattah el-Sisi

Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (born 1954) is an Egyptian politician and retired military officer who has served as the sixth president of Egypt since 2014. He was appointed Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces in August 2012. Following mass protests against President Mohamed Morsi, he led the 2013 coup d'état that overthrew Morsi on 3 July 2013.
