Abolhassan Banisadr

Abolhassan Banisadr (1933–2021) was an Iranian politician, writer, and dissident who served as the first president of Iran after the 1979 revolution, holding office from 1980 until his impeachment in 1981. Before the presidency he was foreign minister in Iran's interim government. After being impeached he fled to France, where he co-founded the National Council of Resistance of Iran and became a critic of the Iranian government.
