Anthony Kennedy
Anthony McLeod Kennedy (born 1936) is an American lawyer who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1988 until his retirement in 2018. Nominated by President Ronald Reagan in 1987, he was sworn in on 18 February 1988. After the retirement of Sandra Day O'Connor in 2006, he was considered the swing vote on many of the Roberts Court's 5–4 decisions. He had previously been a U.S. federal judge from 1975.
