Nathanael Greene

Nathanael Greene (1742-1786) was a major general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, regarded as one of George Washington's most talented and dependable officers. He served as quartermaster general of the Continental Army from 1778 and, from October 1780, commanded the Continental forces in the southern theater. There he conducted a successful campaign of guerrilla warfare against a numerically superior British force led by Charles Cornwallis.
