Richard Olney

Richard Olney (1835–1917) was an American attorney and Democratic politician who served as the 40th U.S. attorney general from 1893 to 1895 and the 34th secretary of state from 1895 to 1897 in the second cabinet of President Grover Cleveland. As attorney general he used injunctions against striking workers in the Pullman strike and advised the use of federal troops. As secretary of state he mediated the Venezuelan crisis of 1895.
