Walter Q. Gresham

Walter Quintin Gresham (1832–1895) was an American attorney, jurist, and statesman who served in the cabinets of Presidents Chester A. Arthur and Grover Cleveland. He was the 31st Postmaster General (1883–1884) and briefly the 35th Secretary of the Treasury (September–October 1884) under Arthur before resigning to become a federal judge, then served as the 33rd Secretary of State under Cleveland from 1893 until his death in 1895. He was twice a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination (1884 and 1888) before supporting Cleveland in 1892.
