Marshall Plan

The Marshall Plan, officially the European Recovery Program, was a U.S. initiative enacted in 1948 that transferred $13.3 billion to 17 Western European countries for postwar economic recovery. It aimed to rebuild war-torn economies, reduce trade barriers, modernize industry, and block the spread of communism. Operating from April 1948, it was largely superseded by the Mutual Security Act in 1951.
