Clement Attlee (1883–1967) was prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1951 and leader of the Labour Party from 1935 to 1955. He had been deputy prime minister in Winston Churchill's wartime coalition government. He remains the longest-serving Labour leader.
