Erich Raeder
April 24, 1876 – November 6, 1960
Erich Raeder (1876-1960) was a German admiral who attained the rank of grand admiral in 1939 and led the Kriegsmarine for the first half of World War II. He resigned in January 1943 and was replaced by Karl Doenitz. Convicted of war crimes at the Nuremberg trials, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and released in 1955 for health reasons.
