Ramsey Clark

William Ramsey Clark (1927–2021) was an American lawyer and federal official who served as U.S. attorney general from 1967 to 1969 under President Lyndon B. Johnson. He had previously served as deputy attorney general from 1965 to 1967 and assistant attorney general from 1961 to 1965 under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Johnson. As attorney general he was known for opposition to the death penalty and support of civil liberties and civil rights enforcement.
