Robert Lansing

Robert Lansing (1864–1928) was an American lawyer and diplomat who served as the 42nd U.S. Secretary of State from 1915 to 1920 under President Woodrow Wilson. An expert in international law, he was a leading advocate for American involvement in World War I. He had earlier served as associate counsel to the United States delegations to the Bering Sea arbitrations.
