Autumn Harvest Uprising

September 7, 1927 · Changsha, Hunan (objective of the uprising)

Communist insurrection of September 1927 in Hunan and Jiangxi, led by Mao Zedong after the KMT purge of the Communists. Crushed by Nationalist forces; the survivors retreated to the Jinggang Mountains. (Some Chinese sources date the start to September 9, 1927.)
