Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878)

April 24, 1877 – March 3, 1878

Russia, with Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, fought the Ottoman Empire after the Ottomans crushed uprisings in the Balkans. After the long siege of Plevna, Russian troops neared Constantinople, and the war led to independence for Romania, Serbia and Montenegro and an autonomous Bulgaria.
