Six-Day War
The Six-Day War, or the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, was fought from 5 to 10 June 1967 between Israel and a coalition of Arab states, primarily Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. The war began on 5 June with Operation Focus, an Israeli surprise air attack that destroyed nearly all of Egypt's air force. Israel then launched ground offensives that captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, and the Golan Heights from Syria. The war caused more than 15,000 Arab fatalities and fewer than 1,000 Israeli deaths.
