Henry L. Stimson

Henry L. Stimson was an American statesman, lawyer, and politician who served in both Republican and Democratic administrations. He was Secretary of War under William Howard Taft from 1911 to 1913, Secretary of State under Herbert Hoover from 1929 to 1933, and again Secretary of War from 1940 to 1945 under Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman. In his second term as Secretary of War he oversaw American military efforts during World War II.
