John Tyler
March 29, 1790 – January 18, 1862
John Tyler (1790–1862) was the tenth President of the United States, serving from 1841 to 1845. He had been elected Vice President on the 1840 Whig ticket with William Henry Harrison and succeeded to the presidency when Harrison died 31 days after taking office. Tyler was a supporter of states' rights and slavery, and he pursued nationalistic policies as President.
