Mehmed VI

Mehmed VI (1861-1926) was the last sultan of the Ottoman Empire and the penultimate Ottoman caliph, reigning from 4 July 1918 until 1 November 1922, when the Ottoman Sultanate was abolished. His chaotic reign saw the empire's defeat in World War I, the Armistice of Mudros, and Allied incursions into Turkish territory including the occupation of Istanbul. He died in exile on 16 May 1926.
