Fall of the Berlin Wall

On 9 November 1989 during the Peaceful Revolution, East Berlin's transit restrictions collapsed and sections of the Wall were breached, beginning the destruction of the Iron Curtain and the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe. The inner German border fell shortly after, the Cold War's end was declared at the December Malta Summit, and German reunification took place in October 1990.
