Lebanese Civil War
The Lebanese Civil War was fought from 1975 to 1990, killing an estimated 120,000 people and displacing nearly one million. It grew out of sectarian tensions in Lebanon's confessional system, the presence of armed Palestinian groups, and regional rivalries, beginning with clashes between Christian militias and the PLO allied with Muslim and leftist groups. Syria, Israel, and other foreign powers intervened as the conflict fragmented into a multi-sided war.
