Munich Agreement
The Munich Agreement, reached on 30 September 1938 by Germany, Britain, France, and Italy, permitted Nazi Germany to annex the Sudetenland, the German-speaking border region of Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia itself was not party to the talks and was forced to accept the cession. The agreement is remembered in Czech and Slovak history as the Munich Betrayal, and Germany occupied the rest of Czechoslovakia within months.
