John Quincy Adams (1767–1848) was the sixth President of the United States, serving from 1825 to 1829. He previously served as the eighth U.S. Secretary of State from 1817 to 1825, as minister to Great Britain, Prussia, and Russia, and as a senator from Massachusetts. After his presidency he uniquely returned to Congress, serving in the House of Representatives until his death in 1848. He was the eldest son of John Adams, the second President.
