Rudolf Hess

Rudolf Hess (1894–1987) was a German politician, convicted war criminal, and a leading member of the Nazi Party who was appointed Deputy to the Führer in 1933. In 1941 he flew solo to Scotland in an attempt to negotiate the United Kingdom's exit from the Second World War, was taken prisoner, and was eventually convicted of crimes against peace. He was still serving his life sentence at age 93 when he died by suicide in 1987.
