Progressive era
The Progressive Era (1890s-1920s) was a period of social and political reform in the United States responding to rapid industrialization, urbanization, immigration, and political corruption. Reformers known as Progressives targeted trusts and monopolies, slums, poor labor conditions, and undemocratic political machines. Their achievements included direct primary elections, the direct election of senators, and business regulation.
