Army of the Cumberland

Union army in the Western Theater under William Rosecrans and then George Thomas. It fought at Stones River and Chickamauga, broke out of Chattanooga at Missionary Ridge, joined Sherman's Atlanta campaign, and under Thomas destroyed Hood's army at Nashville.
