Robert Francis Kennedy (1925–1968) was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 64th U.S. attorney general from 1961 to 1964 and as a U.S. senator from New York from 1965 until his assassination in 1968. A Democrat, he was the brother of President John F. Kennedy. He was killed while campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1968.
