Genocide of European Jews, 1941 to 1945: Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered around six million Jews, about two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population, chiefly by mass shootings and poison gas at extermination camps in occupied Poland. After the early-1942 Wannsee Conference, the Final Solution set out to murder all Jews in Europe.
